Understand What Makes A Good SEO Strategy

April 9th, 2018 by

Most business owners, when they think of doing SEO, turn to Digital Marketers for help. The reason being, they don’t really understand how to go about it. Once businesses start seeing the results from basic SEO, they can’t help but ask for more. So I thought I’ll just give you a bit of a heads up on what a good SEO strategy usually consists of, before you go meet those Digital Marketers. Let’s begin, shall we?

First things first, SEO is broadly divided into 2 categories:

  1. On Page Optimization

  2. Off Page Optimization

You might encounter certain marketers (the not so well-versed ones), who will claim that one is better than the other. Not true! The fact is, both on page and off page optimizations are equally important for an SEO strategy to work in your favor. For successful SEO, what you need is a well balanced strategy consisting of both the types of optimizations.

To give you a better understanding, let me tell you exactly what each of these categories entails.

On Page Optimization

In layman’s terms, this is all about making your website look better & more relevant to the search engines. I did mention in my previous posts that SEO is all about getting noticed by the search engines. So when we are working on enriching your website, the focus is on 3 main components –

  1. The content on your site – Improving the overall quality & relevance of your content, the keywords used, your title tags & meta data, etc.

  1. Interlinking of the web pages – Strategically linking the related pages on your website to each other, thus making it easy to navigate.

  1. URL Optimization – Inserting relevant keywords in your URLs whenever possible, so as to attract search engines’ attention.

Off Page Optimization

Here the focus is on making your website look more authoritative amongst the others. It is all about building your online reputation & establishing you as a reliable source of information in your industry. The process of strengthening your online presence usually includes –

  1. Gaining backlinks – Earning quality links for your website from other authoritative sites in your industry.

  1. Establishing your social presence – Engaging with the target audience through social networking sites & creating a buzz around your brand through these platforms.

  1. Social bookmarking – Sharing all the quality content generated on your website through popular content sharing sites.

Again, I would like to stress on the fact that both on page and off page optimizations are equally important. Also, you need to keep in mind that SEO is a long term investment. It takes time for SEO strategies to start showing results; so be patient. As Jean-Jacques Rousseau famously said, “Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.”

In case you have something to add to my thoughts, I’d love to hear it. So do let me know what you think through your comments.

6 Reasons Why Small Business Owners Must Invest In SEO

March 29th, 2018 by

You have heard a thousand times that you require SEO and it is very likely that you receive numerous offers from SEO companies on a daily basis. But it is doubtful that any company has told you exactly WHY you need SEO & why you should invest your hard earned money to secure a higher spot on the search engine result page.

SEO plays a big role in establishing the virtual version of your business. It draws qualified leads to your website for absolutely no cost. Below are the six solid reasons why your website will reap immense benefits by investing in “Good” SEO.

1. Highest ROI

No other type of digital marketing can provide you with as much return as SEO can. Many times businesses don’t succeed because they choose the wrong company. A company that doesn’t have enough experience or a company that outsources the whole work has zero idea what a great SEO campaign consists of.

Many companies fall for false claims and end up paying dollars for absolutely nothing. Be informed that SEO can draw traffic to your website only if done correctly. The number of visitors you get from employing a good SEO would have cost you a huge sum of money if they were being lured using any other type of online marketing.

2. SEO is NOT dead & never will be

SEO is dead” is nothing but an absurd statement. Google updates it’s algorithms constantly to eliminate the spams and provide users with best possible search experience. So the people who claim that SEO is dead are those who don’t know how to revamp their strategy as per the updates. And this is why we recommend that you opt for only an experienced SEO company, because that way you can rest assured that your website ranking is not going to suffer.

Many SEO agencies offer “first-page ranking” in a couple of rupees, which is impossible. People often fall for these false claims and end up losing money & faith in SEO. So while choosing an SEO company keep this phrase in mind – “You get what you pay for”.

3. Concept remains the same, techniques change

In this ever changing digital world, it’s imperative to stay up-to-date & constantly adopt changes. If you are in touch with “Digital Marketing” then you might know that Google has penalized many websites for mass link building spam. And the current trend revolves around creating content & earning links from high-quality websites.

The concept of SEO remains the same; what changes is the techniques to retain the rankings. So SEO is here to stay & thus investing in it and being ahead from your competitors makes more sense than sitting idle.

4. Your competitors are already doing it

Many business owners think that SEO is only required until you reach the top, despite the fact that the difficulty level increases as you level up. So you need a more aggressive SEO strategy once you reach the top spot.

Because you are in the spot where every other competitor of yours wants to be. So you are left with two options: Either you sit back & watch your rankings go down slowly or speed up your game & retain your position and lure maximum traffic. So by ignoring SEO (at any stage) you are just letting your competitors win, without even fighting!

5. Mobile optimization has become essential

What was once considered to be an option has now become a necessity. Optimizing your website for mobiles has become extremely crucial because more & more people are searching, buying & making purchase decisions from their mobiles. Mobile search queries have surpassed desktop queries and that’s why you need a mobile friendly website & SEO in order to cater to the majority of the searchers.

6. Everyone searches before doing business

The internet has made our lives easier. Now anyone can search for a business, review products & services, and make purchases from the convenience of their home. So if you want to boost your online or offline sales, you will need SEO because it allows your business to be found by consumers who are actively searching for the services & products you offer.
